Azure Sentinel data retention pricing

Hi,

I'm curious how much I have to pay for data retention outside of the free 90 days in Sentinel.
According to the pricing site the price is calculated per GB per month.
But when I configure the retention period I have days as steps, so I can configure less than a month.
So, I'm curious whether I have to pay 1 month for every started month, or the price is devided by the days in the month.
So +15 days (above the free days) is calculated as +1 month or it is calculated as +1/2 months (15 days)?

The pricing calculator actually accepts decimals in the months field, but I'm not sure whether this is just a coding issue or you actually pay per day.

Thanks

How is data retention calculated?
You can select a retention period ranging from 30 to 730 days. The retention cost calculation is done on a daily granularity based on the monthly price per GB being stored beyond the 31 days of included retention.

This info was under the Load more FAQ button so I missed it. Thanks

Hi @sandortokesi,

I don't work directly with the billing team, but the way I read the pricing page is that the Commitment Tier requires at least a 31 day commitment (but also involves cost savings), whereas the pay-as-you-go tier can be charged daily:

Commitment tiers allow you to reserve a fixed amount of daily data ingestion capacity for Azure Monitor and Azure Sentinel for a fixed, predictable daily fee. You can upgrade your requested commitment at any time. However, the minimum commitment period before you can opt out or reduce your capacity reservation is 31 days.

Adding more capacity to your commitment tier – You can upgrade your requested commitment at any time. Your new commitment tier will be effective at the start of the next UTC day.
Reducing your selected commitment tier – You can reduce your commitment tier or opt out entirely from the commitment tier model after the first 31 days. This 31-day clock resets every time you make any change (increase or decrease) to your selected commitment tier. Your new commitment tier or business model choice will be effective at the start of the next UTC day.

I have reached out to the Sentinel team to confirm this and will reply as soon as I have a response. (It's possible that there are other ways to calculate this, and as you mentioned the calculator does allow decimals.)

In the meantime, I would also recommend reaching out to the billing team: https://azure.microsoft.com/support/options/

Thanks, after all it seems like the retention price is calcuated basedvon a daily granularity.
