Outlook group emails.

I've created a group email list, but when I send an email to the group, it shows the recipient's email address, rather than their name. How can I change it so it shows their name? I have no idea what version of Outlook I'm using. It's my boss's computer.

Thank you.

Hi @GR-4790 ,

Welcome to our forum!

I notice that you may have a question about how to find the version of your Outlook client, please go to File > Office Account > About Outlook, then you will find it.

I've created a group email list, but when I send an email to the group, it shows the recipient's email address, rather than their name.

How did you create the group and add the members?
And do you want to be able to see the recipient's name for yourself or for other recipients?

If you create the group by New Contact Group as shown in the below image, through my research and test, I found that when you add members by typing the address directly in Member in Address book windows, the recipient's names will be shown as email addresses only.

When you add members from outlook contacts or From New Email contact to the group, the recipient's names will be shown as the display names of the contacts, which both you and other reciptions can see. So it is suggested that you could create the contacts with display names, and add members to the group from outlook contacts, so that the recipient's names can be shown.

Hope the above help! If the above is not your case, please provide more information about your issue.

Hello @ChristyZhang-MSFT

Thank you for your reply. I didn't really explain my query properly. I'm trying to send an email to a group, but would like to personalise the greeting to each recipient. Eg: Dear John, etc. I have tried searching everywhere for how to do it, but maybe I don't know how to word the question properly!

Thanks again. :)

Well, this is embarrassing. What I was looking for was a mail merge, and I finally found it.
Thank you so much for your help. :)
