Teams Personal SMS

I am trying to send a SMS message to someone singed into Teams under my personal account. I was able to send a SMS message to a family member. I then tried to send a second message.

I followed the instructions here for Desktop and any number I type in Teams returns a message that the person or number is not found. If I go back to the original group and try to type in another number it lets me.

How do I add users to different groups?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi @TomSlayton-0558

Could the SMS user receive the invitation when adding to a new group?

To exclude the client issue, we firstly recommend you try to use Teams web client to see if it works. If there is no issue in Teams web client, it recommends you sign out your Teams client and clear Teams client cache file by following these steps:

1.While holding the Windows key, press R to open Windows Run, then copy and paste the following into the box and click OK:
%appdata%\Microsoft
2.Find the Teams folder, then right click it and select Delete
3.Relaunch Microsoft Teams.

Hi Jimmy,

Teams appears to be working now from Windows and my iPad. The experience is better from iPad than Windows. When texting from Windows the end user does not receive the message from my outlook.com email or mobile number but from random numbers for each message. That confuses the recipients and does not make for a good experience. Also sending a text and having to create a group fist seems like extra work. iMessage is so much easier and Microsoft should look at that app on macOS and iOS to see how it works. Finally, Microsoft should consider renaming Teams to something different like Microsoft Messenger because Teams sounds too work focused. I get that Microsoft is a work orientated company but if they want people to use their products for personal use they need to be more consumer based. I want this app to work smoothly and seamlessly across devices with a low barrier of entry to send my messages from any device. It is not quite there yet on either front. I want to not have to use Apple and use MS for all of my computing. Windows 11 and the future of Surface looks pretty good. We just need the entire eco system to to just work. Sorry for the long winded reply but the way that this thing is currently working and the name of it all feels like consumers are once again the after thought for Microsoft.

Hi @TomSlayton-0558

Thanks for sharing your ideas about our product. If you have any good ideas or suggestions, it recommends give a feedback in Teams UserVoice. Microsoft will always focus on customer’s feedback and experience, some new features would be added to the services based on customers' feedback in the future, and your good ideas will be very helpful for them to improve the service. Your time, understanding and cooperation will be highly appreciated.
