SCCM Test Environment

We have a Prod standalone SCCM environment. We have another test domain which has one way trust to the prod domain.
Now we want to create another sccm env for testing so that we can test new sccm features/deploy patches to test servers via test sccm server.
My question is as we have already extended schema, now again when i will extend schema in test domain will it be any issue or i can just do regular steps and it doesnt matter if prord domain had the schema extended?

Hi, @KarunKhanna-4030
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
There will be no issue that extend schema in test domain.
ConfigMgr don't rely on AD in any way for client management, so multiple domains or forests with or without trusts are irrelevant.
Here is a great article by Jason about this:

Thank you for the response.

One more question : As i am building a test sccm env, instead of using another SQL licence, can i just take an instance from another SQL server running for another application to save costs?

That's a licensing question best handled by your licensing partner or your account team.

Thanks Jason.

Also, i understand we need to open port 80,443 to internet for SCCM. are there any specific websites that we need to open ports? are both ports mandatory?

please advise as security will ask the questions once i raise a firewall request for internet.
