Following new certs LAN outlook clients will no longer connect (Exchange 2013)

This is regarding an on-prem singles server exchange 2013 environment

I recently changed the virtual directories, both for internal and external clients, to https://mail.domain.dom following the need for external access. Local DNS resolves to local address, public dns resolves to WAN address. All works fine for e.g. Outlook Web Access both externally and internally.

Autodiscover has been published, and set via “Set-ClientAccessServer”
However local outlook clients are still trying to connect to exchangeserver.local, and don’t seem to be picking up the info from autodiscover.

Previously I was using self-signed certificates for local access. Now I get the message “There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate”

So how can I get LAN outlook clients to connect to mail.domain.dom instead of exchangeserver.local?

Or is there some way I can install a certificate for the exchangeserver.local address?

Or, indeed, some better way of sorting this out?

OK I solved the problem with the help of the script I found here: https://www.alitajran.com/find-exchange-server-urls-with-powershell/

Turns out I had not configured the "outlook anywhere" url's correctly.

Hi,
Go to https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/exchange and have an Outlook connectivity test, does it show everything pass?
Have you tried recreating the profile after you changed setting of VD?
Have a test in "Test Email auto configuration" and see how the Outlook connects:

The test didn't work as the server is listed with it's LAN name i.e. :
Attempting to resolve the host name ex03.domain.local in DNS.The host name couldn't be resolved.

How can I get the virtual directories name : "mail.domain.org.uk" instead of ex03.domain.local in the autodiscover?
