So is there any practical benefit in changing a user account to "System Managed Account"? (The negative is that you can't log in to it anymore, but is there any positives?)

Since the "System Managed AccountGroup" don't have any default rights in domain.
It is not suggested to change the primary group to System Managed Account if we don't have the clear objectives now.
