Connect with teams user instead of skype user

I (teams user) was in contact with user@company.com (skype user) via my teams. The company company.com now introduced teams as well, yet is still offering skype for their employees. Now user@company.com has both teams and skype user with the same name.

How can I make my teams contact user@company.com in company.com's teams? My chats always end up in skype.

How can I make my teams contact user@company.com in company.com's teams? My chats always end up in skype.

The TeamsUpgrade mode of the recipient is key in determining the behavior of chats, calls, and presence, both within a tenant and across federated tenants.

To meet your requirements, please make sure your TeamsUpgrade mode is Insland mode or TeamsOnly Mode. The tables below show which client in a given mode will receive a call or message from the originator for your reference:
