Effect of M365 Group PDL changes on apps exposed in Team

Hi,

Just want to know the effect of M365 Group PDL changes on apps exposed in Teams.
For example, User A (with PDL US) creates a team. The PDL for the M365 group created for that team is also set to US. Teams apps are added in the team. What happens to the apps (where they run) and the data they store, if the PDL for the group is updated to something different (other country).
Also, how do we change the user PDL?

Thanks,
Sridhar

Apps don't generally care about PDL, even Microsoft ones rarely respect that. If you have concerns about specific app, contact the vendor and work with them to understand where data is stored.
As for changing the PDL, it's detailed in the documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/multi-geo-tenant-configuration?view=o365-worldwide#setting-users-preferred-data-location

Hi Michev,

So when we change the PDL for a user, there will not be any issues in terms of accessing to their existing Team/Channel created by the user including the Share point / One drive.?

Thank you,
MS

Hi @MS-5605

Teams will be included and respect PDLs that have been set by IT automating the migration. If an end user or tenant’s multi-geo license is removed, Teams data will migrate to the tenant default geo location. For customers who have not setup and enabled Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo, there will be no impact.

For third party apps developers can provide options to select the location where the data would be stored.

HI Michev,

Is it possible to change only Group PDL (for Teams group)? if so, how do we change the GROUP PDL?
Do we need to configure the PDL for ODB and SPO as well or just need to move the data ?

Thank you,

Regards,
MS
