Master Data Services 2019 issues

Hello, I have encountered a few issues since the upgrade to Master Data Services 2019 and have also read about other users experiencing the same. Now, the problem is that there does not seem to be a lot of support coming from Microsoft for this product, so I would like to know if there is still support provided for this product and where to find it.

There are a bunch of posts on https://feedback.azure.com/ but most of them haven't even received any official Microsoft acknowledgement or reply, despite having a couple of user votes:
- 41585917-mds-2019-and-mds-2019-add-inn-error-unable-to-set
- 41585761-mds-2019-and-mds-2019-add-in-error-the-current-ce
- 41586127-mds-2019-web-based-explorer-the-description-pop-u
- 36375286-mds-add-in-for-excel-attribute-search-does-not-sup

Then there are also 2 which got a Microsoft reply, but no action was taken since then. The first is in status "Planned" and was supposed to end up in SQL 2019 CU2, which was released in February 2020. The newest release at the moment is CU11... The second is "Under Review" for about 3,5 years now...
- 38962261-sql-server-2019-master-data-service-number-editin
- 32899300-mds-excel-add-in-filtered-domain-based-attributes

All of these posts were created in October 2020 or earlier, with some even dating back to 2018.

It looks like the Azure feedback forum admins stopped looking at the MDS feedback and on this Microsoft Q&A Site, one of the Microsoft employees actually recommended a user to write on the Azure feedback site instead, back in December 2020:
- critical-errors-in-master-data-services-add-in-for.html

And as I mentioned, that Azure feedback forum has not provided any help to MDS users for a while now.

I would like Microsoft to address the issues that exist in MDS 2019. In many ways, 2019 is a worse version than 2016 and 2017. Things that previously worked, don't work in 2019, and the community should be able to have a place to get help.

Hi Joey-7474,

Thanks for your reply.
Currently, Microsoft has not released specific information about new approach.
Before new approach is implemented, I’m afraid we still have to submit the feedback to the website, or open a support case to professional engineer to ensure that your issues or suggestions can be taken seriously. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Amelia

Hi Joey-7474,

Sorry to bring you the bad experience.
Microsoft is working hard to improve its products and is evaluating improvements and standardization to improve and simplify the way they communicate with customers and collect feedback.
Microsoft will be moving away from UserVoice feedback sites on a product-by-product basis throughout the 2021 calendar year. In the future, your feedback will be sent directly to the engineer in order to provide you with better service. Appreciate your understanding.

Best Regards,
Amelia

Hi Amelia,

Thank you for your reply.

I've read before that the UserVoice sites will close down throughout 2021, but it is not explained anywhere exactly when that happens for each site. I would expect Microsoft to still provide support through those channels as long as those websites are up and running.

Would you be able to shed some light on the following:

  • From when will this new approach take place (sending feedback directly to engineers)?

  • How exactly are we supposed to do that, specifically for the Master Data Services product?

  • How can we get help until this new approach becomes available?
