sharing photos with outlok manged application

hello we are unable to share photos from mobile devices with the Microsoft app. There is a policy which is preventing this.

However if the photo is saved to the camera roll it can then be attached when composing a new message ,

Is there a way to allow photos to be directly shared? Would this be a setting in my app protection policy?

I do have Outlook setup as a managed application .

thanks

@JasonGodfrey-5248 Thanks for posting in our Q&A. From your description, I know that we couldn't share photos directly from other apps to outlook and we can share photos from local photo album to outlook. If there is misunderstanding, feel free to let us know.

To clarify this issue, we appreciate your help to collect some information:
1.Please tell us what the platform of the device, iOS or android?
2.If there is an app protection policy deployed to outlook, please show the screen shots of settings in this policy.
3.Please check if there is any app protection policy deployed to other Microsoft apps.

If there is anything update, feel free to let us know.

@JasonGodfrey-5248 Thanks for your update. From your explain, I have done the research again.

For this error message, it means that the organization doesn't allow the pictures in photos sharing to managed apps. Based on my understanding, the photo apps is unmanaged apps and the setting "Receive data from other apps" in app protection policy is set to "Policy managed apps".

Given this situation, I have done the test in my lab. I set "Receive data from other apps" to "All apps", then there is no such error message and we can share the pictures in the photo app to outlook. Here are some pictures about the test result:

Please have a try and hope it will help.

@JasonGodfrey-5248 Thanks for your update.

For this issue, I have done the test in my lab. I add the Outlook app and OneDrive app as protected apps and other settings are the same as yours. In my test, I can share photos from other apps to Outlook. The following pictures show the test result in my test.

I have a photo in OneDrive and I want to share this photo to Outlook.

Test 1: When I click on "share" and chick "Outlook", it will create a picture link with the Outlook app.

Test 2: When I click on "Open in Another App" and select the Outlook app, it will add this picture in Outlook app.

So, if you couldn't share the photo to the Outlook app, please try to use "Open in Another App". If the two methods are not working, it is suggested to open an online support tickect to handle this issue more effectively. It is free. Here is the online support link:

Hope it will help.
