How to create a local printer in the remote desktop? How can the printer name or driver exist independently after multiple users log in to the remote desktop? They are invisible to each other.

Hello, experts. I open multi-user to log in to remote desktop on win2016. After each user logs in to remote desktop with his own account, he creates l to connect to his own local printer. Each printer driver is independent. Users can't visit each other, but now it's abnormal. The printer installed with account a can be accessed and viewed with account B, If the driver of the same printer model is installed, it will cover the driver, and the relevant strategy has not been adjusted. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

Hi,

The user does not need to add or install his local printer on the remote desktop. Once the printer is installed, it will become a local printer on the remote server, which can be accessed by all users who log into the remote server.

The user can directly see and use his local printer via printer redirection when he remote connects to the remote server. No additional printer installation step is needed.
In this way, every user will only use his or her own local printer and cannot see any other user's printer.

Hello, thank you for your warm help

Because the program on the remote desktop only recognizes the name of "PRD" printer, it can only add the local printer by adding the network to create the port and then changing the name. It can not be realized by using the methods of mapping and running IP.

The main problem now is that when all clients log in to the remote desktop and create a local network printer, when changing the name, they will be prompted that other users have created the name, and they can also see other users' printers.

How to make the printer created by all users after logging in to the remote desktop and the printer created by other users isolated and invisible to each other can realize my requirements.

Hi,

It is an expected behavior that all users are able to see the printer which was installed by adding the network to create the port.

If the program can only recognize the name of "PRD" printer, have you tried to change the name of the printer locally installed on the client computer and then redirect it to the remote desktop?

Thanks,

Hello, in the past, the printers installed between remote desktop users were invisible to each other. Later, the system was re installed. Similarly, in the past, the method was to add a network printer and create a port, and then change the name to PRD.

Hi,

In order to better understand your problem, please kindly help to confirm below information, thanks.

  1. The printer is connected to the user's client PC, and each user has his or her own printer connected to their client PC.

  2. The remote server is not in the same location and subnet as the users' client PCs and printers.

  3. The user will add the printer that is redirected from their client PC on the remote server by adding a network printer and creating a port

  4. All the users are only domain users that are in the remote desktop users group without domain admin right.

1、The printer is connected to the user's client PC, and each user has his or her own printer connected to their client PC.

Reply: I have 20 pcs (win10, win7, XP) in IDC that have installed printers and log in to the remote cloud server win2016 (50 authorized users),

2、The remote server is not in the same location and subnet as the users' client PCs and printers.

Reply: IDC dedicated line to cloud server belongs to the same LAN.

3、The user will add the printer that is redirected from their client PC on the remote server by adding a network printer and creating a port

Reply: after the IDC user remotely arrives at the cloud server, create a local or network printer --- create a port --- enter the IP address of the printer shared by the PC and his printer name (\ \ 192.168.100.100\PRD) --- install the driver --- rename the RRD --- complete.

4、All the users are only domain users that are in the remote desktop users group without domain admin right.

Reply: therefore, the PC end user is authorized to be a remote desktop user, which does not involve domain management.

Users who log in to the remote desktop server are required to add different printer models, but after the same printer name, the printers between users are not visible to each other.

After today's test, the everyone permission of the printer was deleted. After the remote desktop user was added, the printers of all users were invisible to each other, but the printer name still could not achieve the same name. thank you
