We have an MS update we deployed it via SCCM as available. But now I want to change it to required. I changed it in the deployment settings but its not taking effect. On the PCs it still shows that update just as available. Am I missing something?

It's a question related to SCCM update deployment, so I changed the tag to mem-cm-updates.
Am I missing something?
Probably that SCCM is not a real-time system ;-) How long have you waited before checking? Have you had the clients redownload the policy and reassess the application advertisements?
Hi, @JasonKomendat-9148
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Like Evgenij said, SCCM is not real-time, client receive the policy from sccm server once an hour by default, did you check it again after one hour?
I test it in my lab, change from available to required, and after client get the policy, the updates installed immediately.
You may check the schedule after you changed to required, try to set the available time and deadline time as ASAP.

Looks like there is no update for some days. May we know the current status of the problem? Is there any other assistance we can provide?
You can always check the changes immediately by running the Actions on any client and force the agent to update the policy, if it works then it's just matter of time until all other clients to get the new configuration applied.
