DPM 2019 failed - but all seems OK

Morning all.

DPM 2019 on Win 2016 - strangly stopped working. It has been working for months.
I noticed no errors in Monitor - which never happens - which was odd

All jobs reporting as running, but if I try a restore via recovery no recovery point are listed.
Server rebooted, SQL reports as running. Manual backups work fine

Odd. Any ideas ?

Hi,

I am not specialist of DPM, but I have done some researches and found some similar threads.

I summarized some troubleshooting steps that you could have a try. Please kindly help to check if they are helpful.

  1. Try to create a recovery point manually and see if that will fail or not. If it fails, check the error message.

  2. Check if the SQL server agent is started or not. (open SQL Server Management Studio > connect to the SQL instance used for the DPMDB database >Check SQL Server Agent)

  3. If the SQL server agent is started, please check the Jobs status (Expand SQL Server Agent > Expand Jobs)

Hi There,

I tried the Charbel link, nice
article but the agents etc were fine.

A manual recovery point works fine

Cheers,

As there is no tags available for DPM, use the azure-backup one which is the closest, I have notified Microsoft about the missing DPM tag.

If your environment meets all the prerequisites (just to ensure that you are not running an unsupported environment), you should start by looking in the DPM logs, in your case it might be worth creating a support request directly to Microsoft.

DPM Server logs:
- %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\Temp*MSDPMCurr.errlog*
