Question for DHCP failover

We have configured the DHCP failover for one DHCP scope between two DHCP servers.

We have updated some settings for scope option on server 1.

However, the same settings change for scope option didn’t sync to DHCP server 2.

So, we want to clarify whether the scope option settings change sync between two DHCP servers would be trigger automatically or need to do manually.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

Based on my test in my lab, except for address leases, "Replicate Scope..." will synchronize all other options you mentioned above between DHCP failover servers. For Address leases, we do not need click "Replicate Scope" manually, it will be synchronized automatically every time the leases changed since both DHCP servers in a failover relationship must maintain a persistent TCP connection with each other. DHCP failover partners establish and maintain this connection on port 647, and use it to exchange operational state information and lease information.

Hi,

Welcome to Q&A platform.

I did a test in my local lab and found that the change of scope option on active DHCP server will not automatically sync with partner server. We can only replicate scope manually to trigger them sync with each other.

Here are my test results for your reference.

Hi Sunny,

Thank you for your support. My question is when I click “Replicate Scope…” button on the specific scope from source server, all new settings for below items would be synced to the destination DHCP server, right?

  1. Address pool

  2. Address Leases

  3. Reservations

  4. Scope Options

  5. Policies

Please help to clarify here.

Thanks!
