Exchange Server 2019 CU10 - PDF preview bug

Hi

After we installed the ExchangeServer 2019 CU10 and the July(2021) Winupdates, the "OWA PDF bug" (PDFs cannot be prewieved) reappeared. On our CU9-Servers, PDFs can still be previewed as normal.

Do anyone else have this issue?

We found a workaround.
If we double-click on the message, the preview-option is available.

Also, 'the none-preview' issue only seems to apply on the first email with a PDF-attachment in the mailbox. All previously received emails with a PDF-attachment, works directly (without first have to doubleclick on the email)

Before going further, could you please collect the build number of your Exchange Server? And does your preview issue look like the same as the known issue before?

I tried PDF preview in Exchange 2019 CU10 15.2.922.7, seems that it can just work fine like below:

I will try the same test in Exchange 2019 CU10 15.2.922.13 later and see if there is any difference. Any updates, I would post back to share here as soon as possible.

Does not work:

AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.2 (Build 922.7)
ExchangeVersion : 0.1 (8.0.535.0)

(we are only able to download the pdf, and then open it in a PDF-Viewer, but not directly preview it from OWA)

Still works:
(here we can preview the PDF direct in OWA)

AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.2 (Build 858.5)
ExchangeVersion : 0.1 (8.0.535.0)



Note. the ONLY thing that differs between the not working and working Servers, are the July-WinUpdates and the CU10. We have this issue on several Servers

I tried the same tests in Exchange 2019 CU10 with the SU released in July, the test result shows that everything can also work fine. Could not reproduce your issue successfully.

I would suggest opening a ticket with Microsoft Support.
