Hi,

Noticed that after upgrading to 2004 some applications stopped to work. After several hours of investigation realized that needed registry keys were removed right after upgrade. Can someone confirm if that's expected behavior or bug? Tried to find it in the known issues but it's not there.

May depend on the path. For example if they were in HKCU then that user's profile would need to be loaded.

    Hi

I fully understand the inconvenience you have encountered

This update is more like reinstalling system files. So the custom registry could be deleted after upgrade. Or I suppose that if it is a compatibility issue after install Windows 2004.
I see you posted another thread in the TechNet Forum: Upgrade to Windows 10 2004: registry keys were deleted after upgrade, saying this is an issue of a third-party app Veeam Agent for Windows.

    1. You could try to re-install your applications for it might re-load the corresponding registry.
    2. Also you could try submitting your questions in the Veeam Community Forums too find out if it’s a compatibility issue in a new version Windows, or update to the latest version of this app.

Usually the registry has a problem, all we can do is back up the registry before the issue occurs.

@JoyQiao-MSFT are you saying that it is expected that Windows Update deletes the registry entries from the installed software? Can you point me to the kb/known issue list where this information is confirmed?

@DSPatrick thanks! The key was under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
