I have a laptop with Windows 10 Pro that has two user accounts: one for general use and one specifically for work use.
I have configured the netsh wlan settings so that WiFi networks configured on the general account are not available for the work account and similarly the network for the work account is not available to the general account.
The problem I have is that the work WiFi network does not have DHCP and has to have static settings configured. In the general account, the addresses are set up using DHCP for each different network I might use while travelling. Unfortunately, although the networks are visible only in the account that is logged in there is some interference from the setting in the other account.
When I connect to a WiFi network, Network and Sharing Center shows two instances of the network. In a general account network is set as a Public network, and the work network in the other account is set up as Private, the two instances in N&SC have one as Public and the other as Private. Also, when this happens the WiFi connection is unstable and drops out and reconnects typically once or twice a minute.
If I delete the WiFi profile(s) in one account then the network(s) in the other account are perfectly stable and only one instance appears in N&SC.
Is this a setting I am missing or a major network bug in Windows 10? If it is a missing setting, how do I fix the problem?
