Storage Spaces Direct - Remounting a discarded SSD

Hello Guys,

We accidentally decommissioned an SSD in the WAC in a Storage Spaces Direct enviroemnt.
Now we cant mount it again. It is not recognised, not even in the device manager.
We have already reset-PhysicalDisk -UniqieID xxx. But unfortunately no success.
Does anyone have an idea how to get it off the "blacklist" again?

Best Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for posting on forum!

Firstly, I have a couple of questions that needs checking:
1) What do your mean "decommissioned"? You mean you pulled your SSD out of your computer or just remove it from your S2D? Can you try to re-add it into your computer to see if this action works?

2) What do you mean "it is not recognized"? Apart from device manager, can you see it in Disk Management, in diskpart > list disk? You can post your screenshots on this blog.

3) You can try this article for general troubleshooting:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/troubleshooting-disk-management#disks-that-are-missing-or-not-initialized-plus-general-troubleshooting-steps

Thanks for your support!

Joan
