Outlook doesn't open

Starting today, outlook will not open from my desktop. I get messages that "Outlook stopped working" and it hangs "Loading Profile". I've used Outlook for decades and can't imagine what suddenly changes. Help!
I did successfully open it in safe mode (from the command line), but no luck with the normal process.

You can try a repair install.

Hello,

The reason for the issue can be your pst size became heavy as you are using the outlook for many years. It can be due to a add on issue also. Sometimes, an automatic update can also break it.
Try opening it in safe mode, which disables add-ins.

  1. Right-click the Start button, and click Run.

  2. Type Outlook.exe /safe, and click OK.
Tip: If Windows can't find Outlook.exe /safe, try using the full path to Outlook (for example C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX, where XX is your version number).

Another aspect is your disk issues where the pst file saves (usually C:\ drive) can have an impact. So do a disk check, defragment etc. also
Most importantly, when the outlook is back again, set an archive rule to move all the files before xx months to a separate folder. Or delete old files

Please mark as "Accept the answer" if the answer helps you. Your suggestion will help others also !

Regards,
Manu

Since it can be successfully opened in safe mode, there might be some add-ins in your Outlook client that cause this issue. Please try disabling your add-ins one by one until you find the one which caused your issue and disable it to resolve your problem. Or you can disable all the add-ins to see if it works(File > Options > Add-ins > Manage > uncheck the add-ins in the list to disable. For example, like below)

Besides, custom navigation pane settings in Outlook may also cause issues like this. Please try running the /resetnavpane command to remove all customizations to the navigation pane (Press Win + R, type “Outlook.exe /resetnavpane”, press Enter).

Same issue i had last day. I re-installed my Outlook and it was done.
Sounds like a hardcore method, but it was the one and only solution that helped me.
