Password invalid after any first login on laptops

One of our users, just one, got this issue:

After logoff on a laptop this user cannot log in again on said same device.
Error message: wrong username/password .

Deleting the userprofile from the device allows the user to log in once more.

The userprofile is available through OneDrive.

When the userprofile is freshly downloaded onto the laptop the login works. But on logoff something appears to go wrong with the locally stored profile. Yet the error is not synched to OneDrive, as the user can use a different laptop still without existing userprofile, but cannot reuse a laptop where already a userprofile has been downloaded.

Where should I start looking?

What could be wrong with the profile in OneDrive, allowing for only for one login?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Using OneDrive to sync profile is not recommended practice.
After the first login, ask the user to change the password and see if it works?
Is this a PC in a same network with others?
Are they domain-joined?

For OneDrive question, you’d better ask for help from OneDrive community.
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/onedrive-for-business/ct-p/OneDriveforBusiness
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn.

On the other hand, if a user want to sync his profile, using OneDrive is not a general method, we usually use roaming profile and folder redirection. OneDrive always used for save user’s folders and personal data.
If this user account is a domain user and this device is a domain-joined PC, try to remove this account from DC and create a new domain account for this user, leave and re-join domain on the device, check for result.
