Import Domain Name from another provider

We have a domain name at 1&1 IONOS., But would like to merge the account with Microsoft and so terminate 1 & 1 IONOS to switch to a Microsoft account
Please advise the procedure and conditions to keep the domain name

If you want to buy a new domain through Azure Domain Services you can do so here.

And to manage your existing domains or to create a new one you can look at this document.

I have proceeded the "buy domain" and put the domain name pf IONOS - but not yet finished the purchase (not completed)

Now azure shows the status this domain name as "checked" and IONOS shows the status as "Domain proof of ownership for configuring Microsoft service, mail".

In the IONOS site, I tried to "change the provider", after this action comes out the following pop up

"If you move your domain to another provider, you will need to enter your authorization code at this provider. The authorization code allows only those who are actually authenticated to move the domain.
Keep in mind that moving a domain removes all content, email addresses, and subdomains of the domain in an irrevocable manner"

If I go through the domain purchase procedure at Microsoft and change the provider of IONOS, is there a risk that my email address will not be available for a certain period of time, I will not be able to send and receive emails, and the emails during that time will be lost?

Yes I believe so. From the statement you posted it also says it will remove all content, so make sure you have a backup of your emails if needed.
