Excel, bullet points, mail merge

Hi

I have a basic knowledge of mail merge, and what I want to do a merge with bullet points where if a field has no data, I don't want a bullet point to appear. I don't even know if this is possible.

My questions are:

  1. Would the format of the table be like this

or like (don't think this way is right - lol):

  1. Would there be anything special I need to do to achieve the mail merge to look like this:
    116595-image.png 116509-image.png

instead of like this:
116597-image.png

I do appreciate any help as if I can get this working, it will be a massive time saver.

On my environment with Microsoft 365 apps installed, I could not reproduce your issue.
Could you please share us which version of Office are you using now?
How did you instert the bullet icons?
Which type of file did you use mail merge to create? Such as letters, Labels.

Let me show you my test details.
Following image is the data source of recipients.

I start the mail merge for letters, then I click "Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard. The recipients are as image below.

I write the letters as following, the bullet points are inserted via the Bullets icon from Home tab > Paragraph group.

If you preview the results, you would find the bullet point would not appear if the field has no data.

I appreciate the effort, however the company had a change of direction and didn't end up using the bullet point format.
