Connectivity to Public IP on Windows 10 VM with static IP

Ok, just set up a Windows 10 VM with static IP. I need to connect this to an incoming internet connection from legacy software running an IP connection from a 3G modem running GPRS. I know the port numbers the TCP/IP connections will be made on, so have opened up these ports on the NIC, NSG and VM, both inbound and outbound. I don't know the IP address as it is a dynamic IP SIM. Also allowed specific connectivity in the Windows 10 VM firewall and defender for the ports to connect. I don't get any connection from the legacy software even though the unit says GPRS and SIM ok. I have run the 5 tuple networking connectivity tests within the VM and this says good to go. My thinking is this could be a Windows 10 firewall/defender issue, but have allowed connection for the relevant ports. Thoughts?

Hi @JulianBonsall-3698,

I've retagged your question as it has more to do with VM NICs and not webapps.

I would check that your Route Table has a User Defined Route allowing internet traffic into the VM. Here's some documentation for overview and managing UDRs in addition to associating a public IP:
