July Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 (KB5004238) Printer Authentication

We have recently updated our Server 2016 Domain Controllers with (KB5004238) 2021-07 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems and now our users are failing authentication via smart card when trying to scan to mail on Konica Printers. When the patch is removed from the domain controller, authentication is passed successfully. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

May need to raise the issue with the print vendor.

We're having the same issue except with HP Multi-Function printers. After installing KB5004238 on our windows 2016 domain controllers smart card authentication started failing on our HP MFPs. Removing the patch restored functionality. The error message on the printer is

Kerberos code -1765328370

That code indicates that the KDC has no support for encryption type. We're planning to upgrade our MFP firmware and test again over the weekend.

Did the HP MFP firmware fix the authentication issue with the DCs?
