Inbox Folders Expanding when Moving Email Outlook OWA

A user in my organization has noticed some changes in Outlook on the web. When the user moves an email in Inbox to another folder within Inbox, that folder will automatically expand to reveal all subfolders. We have confirmed this behavior in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. The user has not noticed this behavior before, so I just wanted to confirm that this was a recent change in Outlook on the web.

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Just tested and do not see that.

It has occurred to several staff in my org across browsers. Attached is a gif of the behavior.116748-expanding-folder3.gif

I'm so glad to finally find this behavior reported as a bug. From my experience I would like to add two more effects.
- When a message is being dragged into the column of folders, the folders will expand instantaneously when the cursor passes over them. Normally, this doesn't occur until the cursor has hovered over a parent folder for about a second or more. Now, there is no delay at all.
- When a folder expands, all of it's children expand.

The result is chaos. Unfortunately I have been in the same job for 8+ years so I have a deep and lengthy set of folders. When filing a message, folders fly open at a whim; the list of folders tries to recenter itself so subfolders move up and down making it easy to drop the message into the wrong folder.

Did Outlook abandon the idea of VERSIONs? I can't tell which version of the product I'm running. I'm not even sure what the product is called. Outlook 365, maybe? It runs as a freestanding interface, but it's clearly running on a browser-like platform. Not the desktop product, but not the OWA product either. And I can't find an "About" menu item, which could help you know what software I'm talking about.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Has anyone found a way to disable this feature? It's making me crazy

Looks like you are using the classic interface?
I only see that with that legacy view

Check that. I followed your steps and can reproduce in the new interface as well. Yea, must be something new.
I dont see anything in the Roadmap. But I can also see this in the classic interface so maybe its bee their longer than I knew.

Do you have this option in the upper right corner?

That option for 'Try the new Outlook' does not appear in our tenant, not on the web version of Outlook, where this behavior is occurring, at least.

Ok, I can see this behavior in both versions, so it looks like its expected :)

Hi @WilliamM-2133,
I haven't find the official document to introduce it. but I have also tested on multiple version of owa and found it could be reproduced on my outlook.com owa, exchange on premises owa and classic o365 owa as Andy mentioned. So I agree with Andy and think it may be expected.
