Hi,
Thanks for reaching our forum. May I know some more details to better understand your problem?
1.What is the OS version for the client computer that add the printer?
2.Was this issue occurred for all kind of client computer or restrict to some machines?
3.Are you capable to manually change preference settings after added the printer to the client and reboot?
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Jenny,
The client is a Windows 10 pc connecting to an RDS farm session.
A bit about the environment.
Server 2012 Domain with an RDS farm of three session hosts.
User is a domain member who connects to a specific RDS session host every time.
A Print server is also part of the domain.
The printer is shared on the print server using latest drivers.
All servers are 2012 machines run under Hyperv
On the print server, I have installed a shared Zebra ZM400 Printer using Print Manager.
I created preferences on the Zebra printer called Slab Label which is set under printer preferences.
The windows 10 pc connects to the RDS session host. While in the session, we add the Zebra printer to
the RDS user session. (we are not redirecting printers)
When I add the printer to the RDS client user login, the printer is added, however the preferences defined on the server
are not defined on the client.
Our old environment under Server 2008 installed printers maintained the printer preferences when added to a terminal server client.
It is my opinion, any shared printer and it's defined preferences, should be included on the client which adds the shared printer.
Thanks for taking a look,
Bret
Hi Bret,
May I know if your windows 10 client was 1709 or not?
I noticed there is a known issue for only windows 10 1709 that print driver default settings are not inherited through "Point and Print" and resolution suggested is to manually change or choose other higher version of windows 10 client.

Hmmm.
The printer is not being installed on the Windows 10 client. It is being installed on the session host user environment. In other
words the Server 2012 session host.
Hi,
Sorry for late reply as I am working on tests in my VM with virtual Printer and got following findings.
1.If I changed the preferences under general--->preference of the shared printer in printer server.
The changes won't be inherited when adding to client.
2.But if I modified changes via printer properties-->Advanced-->Printer default, the changes will be inherited when adding printer to client machines.
Printer Server:
Client has been added with printer via remote connection.
Thus, please verify if you have updated changes in the printer default section or not.
