Cortana Channel speech instead of text

is there no way to edit the preexisting code of my web service bot so that when I connect to the cortana channel it speaks my bot's response instead of only typing it? Cortana only responds with text back from the skill and does not read the response back. I'm new to this and would appreciate some guidance, thanks!
