Any update on FSLogix 2105 and migration tools??

Hello!

Just reading on the latest version of FSLogix and increasing the size of the Profile disks by changing the SiceInMB registry key. We really just need to make that change and FSL will go do the expansion without any admin intervention? Any feedback on how well that works?

Also looking for any information on FSLogix profile migration tools. Have a customer with ~60 user profiles that need migration - manual migration isn't really an option for them right now. If a good toolset is in the works, that would be really helpful!

Hi,
1.From the current information, it did not mentioned that any changes will be impacted for existing profile(to be moved from).

  1. did search a bit further and found two links that might be good test examples to migrate profiles and expand the VHD size.
First: create a VHD(x) of the expected(increased) size and use the "frx moveto-VHD(x)" command to move the data to the new VHD(x)
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f0ecc72e-78e8-48a9-99e6-e159f87f2cef/how-to-resize-the-current-vhdx-in-fslogix

Second: use convert command to migrate existing roaming/UPD profile to Fslogix profile (created with MaxVHDsize configured)

3.For directly increasing SizeinMB to expand the VHD size, probably to test by some profiles first before deploy to the whole product environment.

Hi,
1.The latest version of FSLogix has been released recently and in our forum there are not many users reporting the problem or experience with expanding the size of Profile disk.
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/azure-virtual-desktop/announcing-general-availability-of-fslogix-2105-2-9-7838-44263/m-p/2539491

2.Instead of FSLogix migration tool but found some useful script that shared by users to migrate UPD or local user profile to FSLogix.

Not sure if they are the same thing that you are looking for but hope they would be helpful.

Hello, Jenny!

Thanks for the check-in. I do have a couple of questions about expected behaviors. First, by using frx.exe to convert a profile, what happens to the existing profile? Does it get deleted, or do we need to delete that profile manually after conversion?

Regarding increasing size of the VHDx using the SizeInMBs registry directive – it would seem that the process would take place after the user logs in. If changing that directive triggers a mass rewrite of all the current VHDx disks, that would be very strange. However, it’s possible so I need to verify. The expected behavior is for the user to log in to the Remote Desktop Server and FSLogix will expand the disk using frx.exe, as the current procedure works. Or does FSLogix change the metadata of the VHDx and expand the virtual capacity that way, with little to no detectable delay to the user?

Thanks for your help!
