Test in-app add-on purchase with 'Windows.Services.Store'?

This is basically the same question that was asked in:

https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7f27b21b-9eb5-4b35-bdd7-13dd3084dfd9/uwptesting-in-app-purchasing-with-the-new-windowsservicesstore?forum=wpdevelop

Since the last answer from Microsoft on this topic was in 2017, I was hoping that there is some updated answer. Are we able to test in-app add-on purchases for apps that use the 'Windows.Services.Store' namespace without spending actual money, either by indicating special test users, or by otherwise using some kind of sandbox Windows Store?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Like what Mattew Wu said, you could test the add-on products by setting the price as free. Currently, this is the only way to test the products without spending money.

Thank you.

Hi, I find myself disappointed with the accepted answer here.
Option 1 - "make the add-on free" -> if your game is live and you need to test purchases (e.g. to track down a bug), this is clearly not an option.
Option 2 - "spend money" -> that's not a very helpful answer from the platform holder. Google, Apple, Amazon, ... all other platform holders have mechanisms for app developers to make "free" purchases as if they were a paying user. Why does the Microsoft Store not have this basic functionality yet?

Is there any timeline for supporting this feature?

Is there any other workaround that doesn't involve paying Microsoft directly?

Many thanks.
