One of the Exchange 2013 growing rapidly..

Dear Expert,

I have to exchange server Ex01, Ex02. Ex01 has only 6 log files and its only for current date, but Ex02 has a thousand of log files and its generating a new log file every 1 - 2 second. All the time I increase the drive quota.

Can someone tell me what the problem of the crazy growth is and how to stop this before we run out of space (again)? thanks a lot in advance.

Hi @Ibrahimhasan-6527

What's your Exchange 2013 CU version? Have you performed full backup of database? is there any DAG configured?

Are the logs you mentioned above transaction logs? Please correct me if I have any misunderstanding about your question. Here is a related thread discussed about the similar issue: Exchange 2013 growing rapidly (30Gb a month) but mailboxes not the problem?

Make the full backup for your exchange server, then log truncation will occur only after a successful completion of a full backup. Use Windows Server Backup to back up Exchange

And you could also check if you have users with iPhones or Smart Phones using ActiveSync then one of the quickest ways to see if this is the issue is to have users shut those phones off to see if the problem is resolved. Like this official document introduces: Exchange Server transaction logs are generated at a high rate

Hi,

unless this is a DAG setup (in which case something is very wrong), I would say the databases residing on server 01 have circular logging enabled.

if you do not use circular logging the logs will not delete until a full backup of Exchange is complteted. The logs will continue to grow.
