I mounted the .vhd file and sned files into the created H: partition. Where are the files in my XP-mode part? Windows 10 Pro, Hyper-V.

I mounted the .vhd file and transferred some files into the created H partition.
I ejected the partition H with File Explorer.
I then ran my Hyper-V XP-mode.
Where are the files that uploaded in the partition H?
I cannot find any of them.
Windows 10 Pro, Hyper-V with XP-mode (Windows XP pro).
Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for posting the question to Q&A forum.

After researching, it seems that you could not read the files after you ejected the partition H if you ran XP mode in Windows 10 Hyper-V.

You can only extract the data or file from the mounted drive on Windows 10 or copy the Windows XP Mode virtual hard disks to another Windows 7 machine and extract the data or file from the virtual machine.

Please check the two methods of retrieving data from a Windows XP Mode virtual machine on Windows 8 or Windows 10 in this article.

The article mentioned that "The Windows XP Mode virtual hard disk will not work on Windows 8 and above as they does not provide the Windows XP Mode license. The Windows XP Mode license is a benefit provided on Windows 7 only."

Hope above information could help you.

Thanks,
