How does Azure charge for each (GRS, ZRS, and LRS) setting when configuring Cosmos backups using the "backup restore redundancy" option? The calculator does not have an option for this anywhere so I don't know what costs it might add.

Hi anonymous user, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Updating backup storage redundancy (LRS, ZRS, GRS) will not have any impact on backup storage pricing.(Backup storage redundancy)

By default 2 copies of data backup provided is free and if we go for more than 2 backups then it is charged. Now providing 2 backup with each of the option ZRS, LRS or GRS would be free of cost with Azure Cosmos DB.

However, each of these can be selected based on our requirement. As an example, if the application needs high availability or durability we need to select ZRS. But ZRS again does not protect from region failure and in that scenario choosing GRS would be a better option.

I would suggest you go through below article as it has highlighted about all options in detail:

Please let me know if this helps or else we can discuss further.
