Device Update for IoT Hub - Pricing

We really appreciate the new preview function for device updates and think about implementing it for further products:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-hub-device-update/understand-device-update

But we can't find any information about pricing, will this service stay free of charge?

@BerndKeller-2290 Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Device Update for IoT Hub is currently in preview. As you can see Creating a device update account is free of cost.
Below are the prerequisites:

  • Access to an IoT Hub. It is recommended that you use a S1 (Standard) tier or above.

Supported browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Google Chrome

To answer your query, currently there are no updates on the pricing or until it goes to GA. I will further enquire and confirm the same.

Update: Device Update for IoT Hub will remain free while in Public Preview. Beyond that there will be a limited free SKU available, and there will be paid tiers with no restrictions.

Thank you for your answer @AshokPeddakotla-MSFT

But are there any details available (after GA)?

"Beyond that there will be ... and paid tiers with no restrictions."

We are interested in some estimation of the pricing for this paid tiers to understand if this is the solution to go or if we should stay at the current open-source solution.

Thank you in advance!

@BerndKeller-2290 Apologies for the delay in response. We aren't able to share the pricing information currently and/or until it goes GA.
