concern about billing estimations and it toe of accual invoice payment

Hello

This will be a complex one, but hear me out

I have reach out to the technical team, and the help me a lot, but i still have conerns.

The issue was wit the dedicated sql pool, i did not pause it, just tured off Azure Synapse Analytics AND then, after realisig that cost management bills me, deleted the pool. Then, after it billed me again, i have deleted Azure Synapse Analytics and then the whole resource group and all resources in my subscription.

After reaching out to te team i was told i own MS 27 Euro, which may be not a lot, but after my second request the tech team decided, as a gesure of goodwill, that the amount will be canceled on the next invoice, that takes place around 20th of August. Now, i have confirmation by Your tech team (on my email) that all of my resources were deleted and there should be NO BILLING, that is apart from some storage (around 1 euro).

The thing is, today cost management pilled up the sum agian, to 48 euros. I have canceled the subscription with the pice listes (estimated) for 48 euros. The tech team that i have reached wrlier did hear me out and told m, that i should not worry about cost estimates (cost manegement), since my billing for ASA (Syapse Analytics) will be not charged (due to the issues mentioned, i was not aware of pausing process since it was my first time on sql dedicated pool).

Now, 3 questions:

  1. how will technically Azure cost me - first i will have to pay 27/48/12000/100000000000+ euros, and then refund?

  2. The amount will be arount 1 Euro

  3. Will the cancelation of my subsription do the job or should i have take the more drastic measures and took of my debit card, and then pay manually somehow?

To be more precise - i understand the amount of payment WAS 27 Euros, i understand that as a goodwill gesture it was taken from my billing and i understand, that the cost mangement is an estimate.

So, finall question, is there any way (after 48 h, as it was mentioned in Azure) to check the accual Invoice amount? I dont want to be suprised wit 1200Euros on my debit card, for a service (sql dedicated pool) that i did not accually used.

Thanks for all Your kind replies in the advance.

Hi @sebastianolchawa-9528 Sorry for your experience with this issue. I agree with this statement , a subscription should not be charge for a deleted resource. if that is the case then there is there is something unusual happening. I have your support ticket number, I have reached out to the support engineer and the team to have a better understanding of what is happening exactly. We are waiting for a response form the team and will get back as soon as we have an update.

Thank you for your patience

Accualy the cost mamagement counter 'retreated' some time ago to the amount more adeqate to the real charge (was 49 is 22E). I can see now that cost manager is not reliable and in my opinion it should be stated how exactly does is to work and that it is an estimation, not a real cost.

II was reasured by You tech team that NO additional cost will be on my invoice and accually no cost for synapse analytics sql dedicated pool, ich did so much trobule.

If You can guarentee me, that i wont get by some magical way a bill for 100s of Euro, i will sleep much better.

BTW i want to emphesise here that to be absolutley sure - i did cancel my subscription (for now).

If i wont get that guarantee, i will concider changing payment method, so i wont be suprised by some horreondous amount of cash to pay.

Hi @sebastianolchawa-9528 Thanks for getting back . I would like to clarify that ACM doesn't charge anyone. It reports on estimated costs for open period and invoiced costs for closed months.

Cost and usage data is typically available in Cost Management + Billing in the Azure portal and supporting APIs within 8-24 hours. Please keep the following points in mind as you review costs:
Each Azure service (such as Storage, Compute, and SQL) emits usage at different intervals – You might see data for some services sooner than others. Estimated charges for the current billing period are updated six times per day. Estimated charges for the current billing period can change as you incur more usage. Each update is cumulative and includes all the line items and information from the previous update. Azure finalizes or closes the current billing period up to 72 hours (three calendar days) after the billing period ends. During the open month (unvoiced) period, cost management data should be considered an estimate only. In some cases, charges may be latent in arriving to the system after the usage actually occurred.

I have reached out to the support engineer working on this and hope we will able to check your actual account and know what is happening.

Regards,
Oury
