Excel using ODBC instead of OLE-DB (not possible)

Hello,

Unfortunately it is no longer possible to add an ODBC query in Office365. Excel always makes it an OLE DB query and then shows the following query properties:

e2c10fce-aca8-4f6d-bff6-e9b27d07014e

If I now create the file in Office2013, then "database query" is displayed for connection type:

e61ef86d-64d9-4047-a215-5c491bb4af42

Because Office365 uses OLE DB, I can no longer retrieve the data in Office2013.

Best regards
Markus

Is the real issue that you cannot retrieve Office 2013 data? ODBC and OLE DB are interfaces to the data. There is no difference in the format stored on the drive.

The issue is that you cannot recieve Data from ODBC if you create the file in O365 and then open it in O2013. The issue is that O365 is using OLE-DB and O2013 is using O2013, so that might be the reasion that its not working.

Did you check if it is 32-bit or 64-bit problem? Make sure 2 applications using the same bit version.

Hi @MarkusHofelich-3588,
How did you create the connection, did you go to Data group and get data from one of the connection methods as shown in the following picture?

Did you use the same data source?

In Office 365, the default connection in Data group is PowerQuery, I suggest you go to Data- Get Data- Legacy Wizards from list:

Your picture is display you're using Power Query connection in Excel, try going to File- Options- Data- check all options as shown in the following picture:

Then you can get the following legacy data import wizards, this may help you enable the data connection both Office 2013 and 365:
