Cumulative farm-deployments and certificates

I have a question on Certificates and cumulative updates if you guys can please help.

I am about to deploy farm cumulative updates but I am worried about the expired cert which is configured on a different web application. This web application was for activating apps which ended up not working because we could not afford a second domain specifically for the apps.

This is on SharePoint 2013 on-prem environment.

Am I going to run into problems with this cert though it's not bound with the main web application? At the moment I have not seen any pop-ups with regards to this cert. Is it safe to just delete this cert or pause the web application before executing the farm deployments?

Thank you in advance

@NoziphoChiliza-8898

Whether the web application bounded with expired certificate is belong to the farm need to install cumulative update?

I suggest you could back up the farm before installing cumulative update, then delete the expired certificate. After that, installing cumulative update in the farm.
