I cannot connect to my azure VM

Hello, i have a VM that i was working on for about 3 months now, i restarted it this morning to improve the VM's performance, when i attempted to connect again it wouldn't let me in, the status is showing running, also the screenshot from the panel is showing that the VM is running and the time on the picture is always up to date. inbound/outbound connectivity tests were both successful. I tried everything from the troubleshooting page but nothing worked, also you should know that i have changed the default rdp port from 3389 to 1212, but that as mentioned was not a problem for like 3 months now, i'm not covered with azure help and support, so if anyone could assist me resolve this i would really appreciate it, i have some very important file on that VM. THANK YOU!

Hi @48275005 ,

Did you change the Port before or after the issue? It could be coincidental that your local network IP changed and you may need to add id to the Network Security Group. Make sure NSG rules are updated when you make changes to the inbound Port, and also check for changes with your Local IP.

In rare scenarios, your NIC might not have updated properly when you restarted the Virtual Machine. Sometimes doing a full Stop/Start will heal this, but otherwise you can try resetting the Virtual NIC by changing the IP Configuration: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/virtual-machines/reset-network-interface

Please make sure to run through the RDP Troubleshooting Doc, this is a great guide with steps that you might not have gone through: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/virtual-machines/troubleshoot-rdp-connection

Also if you're using Bastion then make sure to lock your Network Security Group to TCP/3389+443+22 and to only allow the Virtual Network Range.

Let me know if this helps - Or if you have any additional questions!

The issue never happened before i used the virtual machine for months and restarted it a lot of times, but this is the first time i ever had this issue, i also changed the ip subnet as you suggested, nothing happened :(
