Exchange 2016 Pagefile move to another drive

Hi,

We have Exchange 2016 on Windows Server 2012 R2, we have 28GB pagefile consuming C drive causing low disk space.

1) Does pagefile has any direct relation/connection to Exchange 2016?
2) Can we move this pagefile to another location apart from C:\ drive(Exchange installed) & will there be 3) any impact on Exchange 2016?
3) Do we need to keep copy of pagefile on each drive or backup of pagefile?

Really appreciate your detail response on the above-mentioned questions.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Manoj21-3356 ,

1) Does pagefile has any direct relation/connection to Exchange 2016?

No. The pagefile is just an option to extend the RAM of the server

2) Can we move this pagefile to another location apart from C:\ drive(Exchange installed) & will there be 3) any impact on Exchange 2016?

Yes. It's possible to move the pagefile.sys to another drive with no impact to Exchange 2016. Be aware you have to restart the server after you moved the pagefile.

3) Do we need to keep copy of pagefile on each drive or backup of pagefile?

There is no need to backup the pagefile. It's an extension of the RAM of your server. No persistent data is stored in pagefile.
