+1. I'm having the same issue with the GA version (10.6.8 (1914)). Hopefully, the product team will see this and post an update.
Remote Desktop Client for Mac is broken again – window resize aspect ratio
The "Update the session resolution on resize" feature is broken again. I'm using version 10.6.8 (1909) of Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta. (I know that this is a different Microsoft product from Windows RDC.)
I have the checkbox checked, but the height and width are now tied together proportionally. When I increase width, for example, the height also increases in lockstep. They used to be adjustable independently, until the latest versions of the product in the last week or two.
As a result, I can no longer adjust the window size correctly to fit my desired shape to fit my monitor.
Can the team responsible for this product please fix it to restore the correct behavior. I'm unable to reach them via the "Report an Issue" feature in the program menu because Microsoft is removing the Microsoft UserVoice feedback service. If someone knows how to forward this bug report to the correct team, that would be appreciated!
Thanks!

2021-10-11T08:40:27.127+00:00 Version 10.6.8 (1914) - Very frustrating. It used to work very well, but now it's hopeless.
The other issue is that finding this message was difficult enough, I'd be stunned if Microsoft take any notice

2021-10-13T14:01:53.337+00:00 I have this too. I also have issues with it appearing all dark like my desktop is in dark mode only it isn't. I suppose being able to resize at all is an improvement from where it was stuck at a huge size and no ability to change (I am using with AVD if that matters)

2022-08-05T05:40:32.567+00:00 Issue still appears to be happening as of 10.7.7(2001) on Mac. The "Update the session resolution on resize" option (aka Dynamic Resolution Update) is not working. The behaviour of the client is identical whether I have that option checked or not:
- Set up a connection with:
a. "Start session in full screen" unchecked,
b. "Fit session to window" checked, and;
c. "Update the session resolution on resize" checked. - Resize the client window by adjusting the right edge of the window.
- Notice that the entire window scales according to the window aspect ratio, even when only resizing the side of the window.
- Edit the connection and set "Update the session resolution on resize" to checked.
- Repeat step 2.
- Notice that the behaviour is identical to step 3.
The previous expected behaviour with the resize option checked was that the client window could be resized arbitrarily and the host resolution would update to match the client resolution.
This has been reported via the "Submit a bug" link in the app, which leads to this discussion forum: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/azure-virtual-desktop-feedback/macos-remote-desktop-quot-update-the-session-resolution-on/idi-p/3577113

2023-09-08T15:20:17.4266667+00:00 I am getting the same behavior in 10.9.0 (2140)
I have an external monitor setup with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The aspect ratio of the remote session gets locked to the display where Remote Desktop is launched from.
