Why are Reserved Instances contracted only for 1 year or 3 years ? Why not 2 years ?

Most cloud providers provide Reserved Virtual Machine Instances either for 1 year or 3 years and the savings is much higher at 3 years. So why isn’t there a two year plan you can obviously have consecutive one year plan for two years, But why is it not an option ?

As technical advisors we can't speak as to why some billing decisions are made but you can absolutely pass along a request for a 2 year Reserved Instance contract. Feedback is weighted by votes and is reviewed by product teams so this would be a great way to get features (and billing options) implemented if there is enough interest:
