How to change background pane color

In visual studio 2019, I added the extension for SSRS Report projects. When I open a solution,
the primary background for the workspace is a light blue, based on the color scheme of blue.

I'd like to go into Tools/Options/Fonts and Colors and look up the main pane workspace background color and darken it.
Do you know what Setting and/or Display item to choose?

Hi @CoreyFleig-6304 ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

For your requirement, you can change the default color of entire Visual Studio’s user interface with the following steps: Tools > Option > Environment > General > Color Theme.
If you want to change the background color of code editor, you can go to Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors > Display items: > set the Item background: of Plain Text.

For more details, you can refer to: How to: Personalize the Visual Studio IDE and the editor.

Sincerely,
Anna

Thank you AnnaXiu, for your response. Its possible that I can't change some of it.
I was using VS 2017, and when I open VS, but do not open a pane, the generic background is a shade of blue that's good for my eyes.
When I upgraded to 2019, the same color scheme (blue) uses a lighter shade of the same blue, but it's brighter and more harsh on my eyes.

I've tried many, many different settings and display items, but none of them have worked so far. If it attaches correctly, I'm only interested in the background blue
of an empty project.

I'm going to try attaching an image...122114-untitled.png

Hi @CoreyFleig-6304 , I tested it on my side and it seems that the Blue background color of VS2017 and VS2019 is different. There is no relevant setting to change it. I suggest you report it to product team by selecting “Help” menu > Send Feedback >Suggest a Feature…
Thank you for helping us build a better Visual Studio!

I also discovered just now that reviews for VS 2019 are closed, since MS is pushing VS 2022.
Maybe that will have a solution!

Thank you for your feedback. You can try to use the VS 2022. If you have the similar problems later, welcome to report it again.
