Unable to setup Azure AD connect

I am trying to test Azure AD connect. After I provide my Azure AD global administrator credentials and sign in, I get the error "An error occurred while executing the ‘Get-MsoIUserRole’ command. Access Denied. You do not have permissions to call this cmdlet. command."
Any idea how to fix this? This is on a freshly installed Server 2019 VM setup as the domain controller.

@ep65084-2523 Can you check and confirm again if the account you used is global Admin Indeed. try creating any other GA and try with that account for troubleshooting, let me know if that does not work.

The original account is confirmed to be a global admin. I created a second account and set it as global admin and that one worked.

@ep65084-2523 Thanks for letting us know, there might have been some issues with the first GA account. If you want to investigate that, you can open a support case with AAD team

This will do for what I need. No need to open a ticket. Thanks.
