Can't access old subscription to remove domain

Hi guys,

I'm trying to verify my domain however I am getting the following error.

This domain has been previously configured on xxxxxxxxxxx.onmicrosoft.com using an existing Azure AD or Office 365. To verify this domain name, you will first need to remove the domain name from the existing directory. Click here for more information.

The problem is that I can't access that existing directory anymore as it was on a Free Trial account that has since been closed. From the closure email I received last year

"Your free credit expired on 15 September 2020, and because of this we’ve deleted your subscription and any associated data and services.".

No matter what I do I can't get back to that account...obviously because it's closed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi @WillDavison-9282 ,

please try to login in to the Azure AD Admin Portal: https://aad.portal.azure.com/
If this works you should be able to remove the custom domain name.

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for your response. I can log into Azure AD Admin Portal, but only using the new account I have just created which only has one domain in it (which is unverified). The reason it's unverified is because Azure is saying there's another account that has this domain already verified. I no longer have access to that other account because I closed it after the free trial finished. I was under the impression (from the Microsoft email) that all of my data etc would be deleted (and the domain with it).

Cheers,

Will

Hi @WillDavison-9282 ,

if you can't login in your old Azure Tenant than creating a support ticket with Microsoft might be your best option.

Subscription support is without charge and for free:
