Set item permission

Hello ,

I am using SP 2013. i have a general list and a people group. I want all member in the group could create/modify item and set special permission for each item.

What role should i grant to this group? i prefer to have a min permission.

can you help me?

Hi @kong-0411,

You could grant edit permission to this group. If you want this group could only create/modify items in this list you have to make this list have unique permission and create a new permission level.

1.Creat a new permission level
Site Settings > Site permissions > Permission Levels > click edit permission > Copy Permission Level > select permission you want for this group

2.Stop Inheriting permissions
List > List Setting > Permissions for this list > Stop Inheriting Permissions

3.Grant permission for this group and select the permission level you created in step1.

i just want to set item permission i am afraid it require special permission. it seems that contribute/edit is enough, right?

Hi @kong-0411,

Yes, you can set item permission with "Shared with" option.

Select file > Share with > Advanced > Stop Inheriting Permissions
