powershell exchange online mailbox user contact updates unique identifier

We wish to script adding and updating mailbox user contacts on Office 365 exchange online. Adding contacts to user's mailbox is simple but we need to know if there is an internal identifier that we can use when updating contact data fields

Hi @ScottMorgan-7186

Did you mean you would like to bulk adding or modifying mail users and mail contacts in your Exchange organization?
Or you would like to add and modify the contacts which are created in Outlook?

If you would like to modify the mail users and mail contacts in your Exchange organization, below are the regular identifiers:

  • Name

  • Alias

  • Distinguished name (DN)

  • Email address

  • GUID

In your case, if you would like to also change the Name, alias or Email address of the contacts, I suppose you may need to use GUID to identify the object.
