Distribution list group

Hi team,

A silly question but I need confirmation. If an admin created a distribution list group and added a user as the owner of the Dl. Can this user (User is not admin) be able to add or remove member from the DL via his outlook?

Thank you for your help.

Ok, thats different. You wont be able to manage 365 groups via the Address Book in outlook.
Those are managed this way:

Thank you, Andy, for your response, i added a user as owner of the Microsoft teams group but when user tried to manage the group by adding a user into the group , he got the following error msg: " changes to the public group membership cannot be saved. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object."

Sounds like he’s not doing it correctly. See my previous link. You can’t manage 365 groups directly in the outlook address book

Hi @Jennifer-3804

Agree with Andy, you cannot manage Microsoft 365 group membership using Address Book in Outlook.
It is mentioned in the link: Add and remove group members in Outlook

Yes, that will work as long as the group is in the same forest ( i.e. the group is not on-prem and the user is in Exchange Online) and its allowed by policy ( which is the default)

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your email. If Role assignments is set " Not allowed " can the user be able to manage the group ( Rectification: Microsoft teams group not Distribution list group).

Thank you,
