Azure Devops App Configuration Push failing

I have been following the article:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/develop/howto-create-service-principal-portal?WT.mc_id=Portal-Microsoft_Azure_Support#check-azure-ad-permissions

But I am having an issue that when I go to add my Service Principal to IAMS in App Configuration:
1. The Service Principal name is the name is not the same as my Service Principal (is that correct)
2. After adding the service principal as an App Configuration Data Owner - I still fail on authenticating when performing the push (Access to the target App Configuration instance was denied. Please ensure the required role assignment is made for the identity running this task. Status code: 403)

Should I be able to search for my Service Connection by name when I add the role? Should the Service Principal be the name of the Service Connection?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

I believe I may of found the part of the confusion. In the list of roles, my service principle is listed multiple times - possibly once for each service connection. Is there a configuration I am missing to see the service connection name in the list of roles, instead of the service principle?
