Hi all,

This is my first time here, nice to see you all. 😊

Can Remote Desktop use the same Microsoft Account on both PCs?

I have a laptop which has Windows10 Pro, the other one is Winodws10 Home, both sing in with the same Microsoft Account.

But when I try to connect from Windows10 Home PC, it's said "Wrong Password".

After that, I try to login with my 2nd Microsoft Account on the Pro PC, it's connect success from the Home PC.

Does it mean CANNOT use the same Microsoft Account?

Thanks for your help!

I have the same exact problem looking for a solution. I have a Windows 10 Pro desktop and a Windows 10 Home laptop. Both have the same Microsoft account to log in and the account has 2FA turned on. When I try to remote to the Pro desktop I get "Your credentials did not work" "The logon attempt failed".

    The official word..........
You can't connect to computers running a Home edition (like Windows 10 Home)

There are some hacks you can search for to make it work.

    Hi,

    1. What is the exact error message when you failed to remote via same account?
    2. Kindly ensure that you've input: Domain name\user account with correct credential. Moreover, kindly check the remote settings on the win10 pro and ensure that MS account is in the permission list for remoting.

3.Have you tried to remote via mstsc directly instead of remote desktop client for windows?

I also would like to share the details of my quick test: With both Win10 pro, it will kick off the user directly without notification if with same account but if with different account, users will get a notification informing that" another user is signed in. If you continue, they will be disconnected". Did you get the same prompting when using second account?

    Thanks,
    Jenny
