Why are my headphones not registered as a Realtek "recording device"?

Hi.

I have a pair of Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless Headphones that have a detachable microphone included. Now, for the continuation of this message, I won't be referring to their wireless functionality, as I will ask that you assume they have no such thing.

These headphones have a small earphone jack in which to place a 3.5 mm jack audio cable, so that one may use both the headphones - and the mic - through a wired connection. However, when using a video chat software, I have found that whenever I plug in my headphones through a wired cable into my computer's jack, I can hear through the headphone's speakers, but it's as if my microphone is muted. Upon further inspection, it seems that the computer isn't picking up my microphone's input at all, as the Realtek Audio Console does not list my headphones as a "Recording Device".

This can be compared to my pair of wired earbuds - which in and of themselves contain a mic - that, when plugged into the same jack using a very similar cable, are listed as a "Recording Device".

Is there any way to manually list the input as a Recording Device, bypassing the automatic process performed by the Realtek Audio Console? Does anyone have a fix to this?

Have you also connected the plug to the corresponding "recording" device port?
I mean, and I am not expert at all in this matter, but I am using Win81 in an old i5 PC and it seems my computer need to "feel" the connected device to it
I don't know. just trying to help. You can omit this if silly. Sorry
