What version of Windows does Microsoft see Windows Enterprise for Virtual Desktops 21H1

Microsoft treats Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops as a Server OS underneath from my understanding. That being said, with all previous releases of Windows 10 (2004 / 20h2 /etc) there was a comparable Windows Server version. With Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops 21H1, what is Microsoft treating it as underneath?

I ask as we have a group of 15 Azure Virtual Desktop VMs running WIndows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops 21H1. They are a part of an SCCM Software Updates collection that has Windows 10 21H1 updates in it as well as Windows Server 2004 / 20H2 updates. The Virtual Machines however do not see any security updates / cumulative updates available via SCCM.

So I am curious what Microsoft / MECM is seeing Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops 21H1 as?

The SCCM Client properties list it as 21H1 Windows 10, but Im not sure what its being seen as underneath so I can get the VMs to see needed updates?

The issue is apparently tied to what my guess was. The OS is looking for server updates from SCCM, but not finding any for 21H1 server. Microsoft Updates uses different metadata so when you manually search for updates, it pulls down the desktop versions of the updates.

This is being worked on and a fix is being made so the SCCM searches will work properly in Sept 2021.

@SamecBrianD-1158 Apologies for the delay in response and all the inconvenience caused because of the issue.

Did you got a chance to check this article: Known Issue: The June 2021 Windows 10 security update is reported as not applicable - Microsoft Tech Community

21H1 is just an enablement package that stacks on top of 2004/20h2. Windows Server 1903 and higher should still be applicable.

Hope it helps!!!

This was for the August 2021 update. The issue has to do with how Microsoft sees the machines. It sees them as RDSH Servers so the updates are looking for WIndows Server updates. Since there is no 21H1 Server right now, the machine isnt seeing any updates available.
